15s practice starts Tuesday June 30!!! We’ll be going 6pm Tues & Thurs at Antioch Middle School 8200 W. 71st street OP, KS
The Kansas City Rogues unanimously voted to partner with the Kansas City Rugby Football Club for the remainder of the 2012/2013 competitive cycle and the 2013/2014 15s season.
We will register with USA Rugby as Kansas City United and act as one club for all intents and purposes. However, both clubs will keep their identities at the street level. KC United’s DII team will still be known as City and wear City kit, and the DIII team will be known as the Rogues and wear Rogues kit. At the end of our one-year commitment, both clubs will reevaluate the partnership and either sign on long term or part ways.
This partnership allows both clubs to help each other where needed, and it will cultivate a more competitive product on the field immediately. The Rogues have always had a core of players with the ability to play at a higher level, and this partnership allows them the opportunity to do that.
For the immediate time being, practice will be held at Minor Park off Red Bridge and Holmes 6pm Tues. & Thurs.
Very important meeting for the club tomorrow. Instead of practicing, we will be meeting at the Black & Gold Tavern at 6pm to discuss current state of affairs. Anyone who has a stake in the club or considers the Rogues their club/team should be in attendance.
We are having training tonight (Tues. March 5th) 6pm at Theis Park. If #s are low or the field is unplayable, we will go to Black & Gold for a short chalk talk session.
We will have a full-on practice Thursday at Theis no matter what. Unless you see otherwise, assume practice is happening 6pm at Theis Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Here’s some information on the spring season, everything you need to know or that we know at this time. Hope the holidays went well and saw you clone yourself or spawn new rugby playing friends.
We are starting practice on Tuesday Feb 5th. 2nd Practice is Thursday Feb. 14th. Then Midnight 7s is Friday Feb. 15th (club) and Saturday Feb. 16th (College). Starting the next week, we’ll go every Tuesday/Thursday. Practice will be 6pm at the park area behind Costco off of Gilham where we practiced last winter so we can get some light. After daylight savings, we’ll move back to Theis Park.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Adam bought a bar at 3740 Broadway in Midtown. It’s called the Black & Gold Tavern. It will be the new everything bar for the Rogues. After practices and games, we’ll be at the Black & Gold. Stop in and sexually harass the staff, especially between 10am and 6pm on Tuesdays.
JANUARY COUPLES NIGHT
Joe Gaughran is planning a couple evening at his house for Jan. 25th. I will let him share the details on that. (My birthday is the day before, so I get to spank or fondle everyone’s significant other).
This is still a work in progress. We are trying to shuffle things around still and I will update the website as we get shit figured out.
Couple of things. On March 16th, a few guys are pushing to go to the Savannah St. Pat’s tourney. It’s about a 12 hour drive, but the tournament is LEGUHN-DAIRY. Matt Miller’s club from Buffalo will be there, as will one of their props who is coming to play with us in the fall. Let me know if you will go to that event. The alternative is to hang out with the hayseeds in Topeka in the world’s smallest bar. Fun times can be had, but nothing LEGUNN-DARE-EE.
And on 4/6, Kevin and I are taking our HS team to St. Louis Ruggerfest. Would be cool if our team went, too. But if you guys want to go to Wayne State and bag some big-titted young college girls (worked for Wayne) then that’s your prerogative. Let me know your preferences.
3/2 vs Arkansas at home. League game
3/9 vs either Columbia in Columbia or the Blues in KC. Either way, it’s a league game
3/16 St. Pat’s Tourney. We’re either going to the famous one in Savannah, GA or the Topeka tourney.
3/23 at Tulsa. League game
3/30 vs Pitt State at home.
4/6 Either in KC against the Blues, the Wayne State tourney or STL Ruggerfest. But we will be playing somewhere that day. Blues would be a league game.
5/18 at Franklin County in Washington, MO
We’re trying to fill in the gap between 4/6 and 5/18 with a couple of games.
The Rogues break in a new league season, new team and new home pitch Saturday Sept. 22 10am against Northland.
The field is at the 40 Acres campus at 7620 E. 79th Street KCMO 64138. It’s located basically just east of 435 and west of James A Reed. There is no 79th street exit off of 435. Best bet is either Gregory or 83rd to James Reed and then west on 79th street.
Players should be booted up and at the pitch by 8:30am. Any late comers need to contact Pat or Wayne to keep them abreast of what’s going on.
The Kansas City Rogues will travel to the University of Central Missouri Saturday to take on the Mules in the annual friendly match for the paddle.
The Mules and Rogues started playing for a wooden paddle in 2011, with the winning captain getting a friendly swing at the losing captain. In the inaugural paddle match, Wayne Nicholsen, UCM alum, had the honors of introducing the tradition to UCM captain Keith Hicks after a Rogue victory.
Saturday’s game kicks off 2pm CST at the field off of DD Highway in Warrensburg, Mo.
To get there, take the 13/Maguire St. exit off of I-70 or 50 and go South until you reach the DD intersection. Take a left (East), and park in the South Rec. Complex parking lot on your right. There are no bleachers, so bring your own seating.
Kickoff is set for 1pm CST at Minor Park off Holmes & Red Bridge.
Players should be there by no later than 11:30am. If you are going to be late, you need to contact Pat, Dan or Wayne.
City is playing the Arkansas Gryphons directly following our game.
The aftermatch social at the Beacon 5031 Main Street KCMO.

Mark your calendars for the famed Annual BBQ at the Swiss Chalet on Saturday Aug. 11!
We’ll start the Rogues Annual General meeting at 6pm and the BBQ and party at 7pm.
Details on the BBQ will be revealed as we get closer, but plan on drinking a lot and then going to a Rogues-friendly bar to drink more. Like last year, we encourage you to bring your significant others and kids, though it may get a little less kid-friendly after sundown.
This is not really a fundraiser for us, but we will be charging something to pull it off. More to come on that.
As for the AGM, on the agenda will be voting for 2012/2013 officers and general news on the upcoming season. We will also hopefully have an announcement on a 15s coach by then
We will hand out four awards: MVP, Most valuable forward, Most valuable back and Rookie of the Year. Votes are due to Pat Clifton by August 1st.
